Routine immunisations in children:

  • Information can be found in the Ministry of Health 2024 Immunisation Handbook

  • Information can also be found in the IMAC site for health professionals and families

  • Influenza vaccine is funded for all children 6 months to 4 years of age who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness or have a history of significant respiratory illness.

  • Influenza vaccine is funded for children from 6 months with eligible medical conditions (see Pharmac Influenza criteria 2024)

  • Children receiving the influenza vaccine for the first time who are aged between 6 months and 9 years, and immunocompromised children of any age, should receive two doses 4 weeks apart to ensure adequate immune response.
