Upcoming Huitalanoa and Ririki Haumaru Wānanga

Ririki Haumaru Wānanga: Two day noho marae!

Register for our Tāmaki Makaurau Wānanga!

Join us for our free 2 day noho marae wānanga at Awataha Marae on November the 19th-20th!

These wānanga are a stepping stone for Safekids' transformation and commitment to focus on the lives and future of our mokopuna (grandchildren) and the generation that come after.

It will set the tūāpapa for the regions and act as building blocks to valuing the lives of mokopuna across all aspects of society. Importantly, it will shape the education and messaging developed for health professionals working with whānau when delivering mokopuna haumaru (child safety) promotion and aitua/wharatanga (child injury) prevention.

We are aiming to work with the rohe, whānau and health professionals to learn from the mātauranga of pūrākau (historical and experiences), oriori, mōteatea etc... in the regions to help inform and guide the wānanga and overall, our safety messaging.

We welcome all those that belong to spaces of keeping our mokopuna safe, whether that's through your mahi, as a volunteer, and of course as whānau. If you have any patai (questions) please feel free to contact loraw@adhb.govt.nz

Huitalanoa: Aspiring towards Pae Ora!

These Huitalanoa are our pursuit of equity and Māori health aspiratons for flourishing whānau and tamariki through home safety and injury prevention. Through interactive sessions and reciprocal knowledge-sharing we look at how to engage and build relationships with whānau through the lens of Pae Ora:

  • Mauri Ora | Breathing life into every interaction with the whānau we serve and visit as kaimahi

  • Whānau Ora | Recognising the wealth of knowledge and practices that a whānau holds

  • Wai Ora | Recognising the natural and mand-made environments that impact and influence the practices and lifestyle of the whānau we serve

With a particular focus on child injury prevention in the home

These Huitalanoa are for those that work in the community and directly with whānau. Please click on the huitalanoa to book your spot. If you have any patai (questions) please feel free to contact loraw@adhb.govt.nz
